Andradite Demantoid Garnet : eBay Guides

Demantoid means Like Diamond.

A year ago i was the only one selling real russian demantoid on ebay.

So many different types of demantoids are being sold on ebay now.

Honestly not even one is real.

Andradite demantoid green garnet is mined only during two months from november through the end of december in Ural mountains Russia.

Real andradite demantoid has two colors and only two colors.One is bottle green that almost looks like emerald or a really nice tsvorite, the other looks like a peridot that has a very deep color..Russian demantoids are either flawless with horstail inclusion, or they are very clouded that you cant see anything.Either way they are as expensive as diamond.

If a demantoid is IF clean, its from Africa and worth as much as a hessonite garnet.

If a demantoid's color is yellow like sphene, or green like tashmarine, or if it has fire in the form of 3 or 4 colors, its from Africa.

Russian Demantoid has no glow, but what makes it special is the horstail inclusion, if a stone doesnt have horstail inclusion, or horstail marks(small dots, that glow under light), then its not demantoid, its eitehr hessonite or african demantoid, but not worth alot.

So, bid on demantoids wisely, dont go for the cleanest ones, because they are the ones more likely to be african.Now i am not saying tha African dematnoids are not worth anything, they are just not russian and they are not as expensive as russian.There is difference between alexandrite from russia and alexandrite from brazil.big big difference both in value and in features.Same with deamntoids

Sometime in the deep bottle green ones you can find very very clean, without horstail inclusion, but it has have horstail marks, if it doesnt then its not from russia.
