You know the old saying. There are 2 sides to a fence just as there are 2 sides to every argument. So far we’ve only seen 1 side of the fence or heard one side of the story. There are reviewers that claim more than 50% of the people that sells VHS tapes on eBay are bootleggers. . First of all, it is true that most of the old classics or hard to find videos do not even exists in its original form and most of these VHS tapes are copies. However these reviewers/accusers have only 1 intention: that is to weed out all the sellers and competitions so that they can monopolize the whole category themselves. They are posting their review to benefit themselves not for buyers. Just look at their VHS tape store/inventory, they are selling a whole bunch of rare videos at such a high price or even buy it now price. Their list of most common bootlegged videos are in fact the ones on their inventory. By this process, people who wants it bad enough will be forced to buy their bootlegs. You wouldn’t find art or coin sellers posting reviews about VHS bootlegging. This is what you call pure greed and evil. These accusers claimed that their tapes are authentic original and in shrink wrap. That is all crap. Anyone can go to a boxing shop and have a video shrink wrap for 25 cents. Anyone can order protective chrome seals, bar code stickers or photograph a glossy face label on it. You can even reproduce the hard cover box easily if you have the right connections. Is this authentic? One can even go the right place to have the tape face label engrave with the original logo. These accusers simply have the right connections and others do not. Don’t let them fool you. The only thing that matters about the tape is the quality of the video and audio. What does the rough edges on the box have to do with anything. These accusers claimed that they have put a lot of bootleggers out of commission. In fact they are the ones that should be under scrutiny. The problem is eBay always takes the word of the accusers and suspends the accuse without a hearing, evidence, etc. It is strictly a matter of guilty by word of mouth. EBay does not send police to your home to investigate. Look at the rating of these accusers, are they all clean of excellent quality videos in their feedback. NO! They sell the same videos repeatedly. What does that tell you? As for the $2 expense for bootleggers, that is again crap. The cost of the blank tape is $2 plus tax, add on the listing fees, FVF, Paypal fees, envelope, dressing. Total comes to at least $5. Most of their tapes sells for under $10 if that. Not like all these accusers who list their rare videos at a buy it now price for $80 or more. I don’t think one needs a high rating to see through these accusers. I think people should at least hear both sides of the story.
