Bobby Jones polos on Ebay: all genuine? : eBay Guides

                                  

                  I have purchased seven Bobby Jones polos on eBay over the past year. Three were solid color mercerized high quality shirts: tough, fine material with a lasting sheen and excellent finishing everywhere. I have no doubt these are real Bobby Jones shirts.
                The other four shirts had the golfer placket and the engraved shell buttons that you expect, but even at first glance they didn't look quite right to me. These are knitted patterned polos, inside each shirt the bottom of the placket is poorly finished with numerous loose threads hanging across, the washing instructions sewn to the inside side seam are printed on thin material, on two of the shirts there are spelling mistakes: water is spelled "wather" and it says "do not blanchentle", whatever that means. Also, in various parts of the inside of the shirts there are loose threads. Finally, I am not an expert on the quality of material but the material of these shirts does not feel like good quality, it doesn't drape nicely. Above are photographs of the two of the poorly finished polos, the first two photos are of the bottom of the placket on the inside of the shirts. Does that look like top quality work?
It could be that Bobby Jones makes a very cheap line of shirts for some reason or that someone else does and sells them under the Bobby Jones name.
