  • The dishwasher is not the enemy! Bone China Dinnerware patterns were made to be used so a careful gentle or "China" cycle on most newer dishwashers are quite safe! I recommend a liquid detergent as the powder detergents are more abrasive, the water doesn't have to be extra hot and if you can turn off your hot dry cycle that is another good idea. Tea cups or pieces with handles I usually put on the top shelf well spaced so as not to get knocked together. For gold or platinum dinnerware, make sure your dishes have completely cooled before unloading to ensure the metal has hardened. I have an Anti-Bacterial cycle on my dishwasher and boy does it ever get the old gold gleaming!! Use your discretion when putting certain items in the dishwasher, anything with a lot of old crazing is already weakened and can crack or craze even further, Parian or eggshell china should maybe skip the dishwasher. So go ahead and put your Blossom Time or Old Country Roses in the dishwasher-just maybe not every day!
  • By rotating your dishes from top to bottom you will get equal ware on your dishes.
  • You should soak your fine china in warm soapy water every 6 months or it can become brittle.
  • Bone China is extremely strong. Stoneware and Earthenware sound stronger but think of how strong bones are and Bone China contains Bone Ash.
  • Not just a wives tale Bone China most definately keeps food and Tea or Coffee hotter longer than any other type of Dinnerware.
  • So go on and use your Bone China! There are so many different ways of decorating not only your table but your home as well and if no one can ever see the beauty of it then what good is it anyway!!
