Rare Books or Popular Books and Authors

When looking at books you want to look for :

• the illustrations are they all inside
• whom published it
• condition Excellent , Great , Good, Fair or Poor this make a huge difference
• what printing
• how many copyright dates
• check them at  on internet sites for easy cross reference
• check and make sure all pages are inside
• British Books alot of time do NOT publish dates before the 50's

Key Points to Consider if you are a collector of a Certain Author

• Make sure it is NOT A BOOK CLUB EDITION or Book of the Month
• Grolier is a Large Book Club so check this for the publishers
•  the Sequence of numbers on Copyright page indicates First Edition - such Numbers as 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 all of these have to be present
• Aging Spots
• Mildew or Odors
• Spine Cracking or bumps to corners
• Dustjacket add increase value if they are in great condition and they are not price clipped
• Buy a Rare or Old Book Price list but I usually look on Abe Books
• Check to see what others have sold it for in the completed listing although some books are worth alot does NOT Mean you get alot for them
• When checking on Abe Books all of the information must match in order to get a accurate quote but still does not mean this is what you will get it for or sell it for..
• Is it SIGNED
