CLEANING YOUR UGG BOOTS IN THE WASHING MACHINE : eBay Guides

You CAN wash your UGG (sheepskin) boots in the washing machine! (**NOTE: if you have "vegan" /fauxfur boots, just be careful about not drying them in a hot dryer, the faux fur will melt because it's plastic).

DON'T believe the hype with washing your UGGS with special cleaners or having to drycleaning them! People have been wearing sheepskin for millions of years, do you think they took their sheepskin clothes to the drycleaners then?

ONLY use a gentle detergent like Nature Clean, or Tide unscented. I also put Nature Clean non-chlorinated bleach and 1/2 a bottle of vodka to take out the tanning smell, and I wash with an old towel to soak up the smell, too*(don't use a good one, you'll have to throw it out).

Wash on COLD / DELICATE cycle, DELICATE spin. Check to make sure boots are submerged.

When you pull them out of the washer, run your hands over the pile, to redistribute the natural lanolin in the sheepskin.

I recommend drying with a convection shoe dryer. This is a slower heat that doesn't wreck leather. If not, you can air dry, put some paper towel on the inside of the boot to absorb the moisture.  You can put over a vent/ or against a warm (NOT hot) radiator, or  a hairdryer works too. Also a dryer on no-heat, but make sure you put a load of jeans through your dryer afterwards and not your towels.

I've had my UGGS for two years, washed them regularly, and  they STILL look brand new, with no stains! (And, my socks don't smell like chemicals).

I think it's a waste of money to spray sheepskin boots with a waterproofing spray. If you want a waterproof boot, buy a gumboot! Even sprayed, UGGS are STILL going to get wet and dirty! If it does get dirty, let it dry, and brush it off with a brush. The dirt WILL come out in the washing machine, just make sure you use the Nature Clean non-chlorinated bleach. NEVER USE CHLORINE bleach. It will discolour your sheepskin, and it's super bad for the environment!
