I recently had an bad experience dealing with a UPS (United Parcel Service) package being shipped to my home in Canada. Most Americans are not aware that even though you charge for shipping (naturally), UPS then adds a "Brokerage" fee of some idiotic amount. The seller charged me $20 for shipping and UPS charged me another $44 for this fee. $5 of that was for taxes and the rest ($39) was a "handling fee". USPS (US Postal Service) on the other hand, charges $5 for this exact same service, regardles of the total amount of the sale.
I later found out Canadians are so fed up with this gouging by UPS that there are 2 seperate class-action lawsuits aginst them. See "classaction.ca/content/actions/ups.asp"
All I can suggest is:
1) Americans - do not use UPS to Canada
2) Canadians - If you get gouged by UPS (and you will), join the lawsuit.
Happy E-baying!
Chris
