I purchased what was supposed to be larimar beads from ebay member likemygems in September 2007 later to find out after I took them to a jeweller that these weren't larimar beads at all. I tried contacting the seller twice to resolve this issue and still haven't received a response. I paid approximately $60.00 in total for this order. I wrote this guide to help protect other buyers on ebay - as you can see not all sellers are honest and they are not willing to correct the problem. If you have purchased beads from this seller be aware that they may be fake.
Update (December 27th, 2007): I still haven't heard back from likemygems and I have sent several messages giving them the opportunity to resolve this issue. These beads were to be made into jewellery to be auctioned off for charity - Children In Need - but were not able to do so due to the fact that they were fake. I may be taking futher action because in my opinion anyone who takes from a child in need doesn't deserve any business! I believe that businesses can make mistakes, but as I said I gave them every opportunity to resolve the issue, and I was ignored. Ebay was unable to help in this instance because it was past the date of putting in a dispute. Ebay does give you other options outside of ebay to report such a crime. I am passionate about helping others and again will continue to give updates on this situation, so that the ebay consumers will be protected. You can't be too careful when purchasing items online.
Update: (January 1st 2008) I finally received my first message from likemygems and it seems they are willing to resolve this issue - will continue to give futher updates as to what happens.
Update: (January 2nd 2008) Waste of time...I can't put a claim in through ebay unless ebay advises that I can as was stated by ebay when I first contacted them about the issue ( past putting in a dispute date ) and ebay guidelines is what the seller wants to use to resolve this - they are expecting I put in a claim, but as explained to them before this is not possible as ebay outlined to me it is past the date of dispute unless there is something I don't know about, but likemygems wouldn't share that with me either. Likemygems has stated they will no longer have communication with me through email because they find me agressive, abusive, a stalker, and making threats. Telling someone you are going to Report them for receiving fake products isn't a threat - it is an option if the seller is unwilling to communicate with you or respond to you. They have made it clear that they had tried contacting me several times regarding this issue and have kept a record of this, but if that were the case they could of simply sent their record from their sent messages to me in an email showing the times and dates in which I would of appologized for thinking I was being ignored or they could of sent me a message in ebay instead of allowing me to keep sending to an email they stated they no longer used . If they no longer use it - they could of made me aware of this as well so I didn't keep trying to contact them thinking I was being ignored which if they read them....(you make your own observation there) - obviously they can check it and had the opportunity to respond sooner and failed to until I said I would be taking further action. I even sent them an ebay message saying to check that account so they knew my initial message along with others were there all along and didn't respond until now - if they prove they tried contacting me several times by showing me their recorded correspondance like they say they have then I would own that I was wrong, but they haven't. That was the email on my paypal receipt which I assumed would of been the correct one. As for their complaint about what the beads were going to be used for - well that is a truth as well. It truly doesn't matter if the beads were going to be used for personal use or charity or whatever the fact - it still doesn't dismiss that they were fake and weren't listed appropriately - which isn't the fault of the customer and it truly was sad as I could of done so much more for charity. I never called them names like they did me, made a threat or claim to them, that to my knowledge at the time that I knew to be untrue. I just stated what my next actions would be if I didn't hear from them that is not a threat. It was there choice not to respond sooner. The only other option is to pursue this through other means which are available and of which ebay will make you aware of if you contact them with a similar issue. This is my last update on this issue as I know when to let go of something when it is a waste of time. If you feel like purchasing these fake larimar beads please message me hahaha! All the best in 2008! This is my experience with this seller, yours may be different, you make your own judgement and proceed with your own discretion. I have read some other reviews on fake beads and jewellery being sold - it is such a shame that the market is being flooded with this. Be sure to check out my top pick for a bead seller in my other guide/review.
Happy bead buying ebay consumers! :)
