Beware of those that give lists of herbs that are helpful or heal, but do not list any side affects, and do not have a disclaimer or reccomend to seek a physician or proffesionals advice on taking any new herb.

I have seen helpful guides here on ebay that list herbs that you can use at home, but although helpful, they could be harmful to those that do no further research than just reading the guide. And sadly there are those innocent trusting people that could take something that could hurt them.

I would suggest to anyone new to the natural approach to speak with an herbalist, or a physician that supports the holistic approach. My curosity started when I became pregnant with my second child and chose a midwife instead of a doctor. I found out that there were many safer ways to take care of yourself and your baby withouth having to take a drug. i NOW HAVE MANY BOOKS ON THE SUBJECT, AND REFER TO MY MIDWIFE WITH ANY QUESTIONS.

Shonda Parker has written books on the subject and has a website. If you click on the link, it will come up with "0" items, but then click "title and description." I think that should take you to her items, but if not, save it to favorite searches. Her books are filled with wonderful advice for the family that seeks a more natural approach. She even offers courses.

Do a search on ask or google, for just-for-you-homeremedies, or the national institute of health center for complementary and alternative medicine.

It can become very confusing to read a bottle of herbs and read "NOT RECOMENDED FOR PREGNANT OR NURSING WOMEN". This statement is there, because herbs are not regulated by the FDA the same way that drugs are ;.they are regulated like food. When you are taking any herbal supplements, it is good to tell your doctor. So when the question arises, "are you taking any medication:?" that is the time to say yes.  Tell the pharmacist as well. They now have software that they can use to look up any interactions of the herbs and drugs you are taking.

I wrote this guide not because I want you to see me as wise, I have no degree, but because I see that their are guides that are telling people their kitchen pantry can heal many things, but fail to warn that in certain situations the same herbs can cause more harm than good.. Some of the situations can be from AIDS, AGE, GALLSTONES, LACTATION, to PREGNANCY..
