Egyptian/Syrian Hookah

Assembly and Maintenance 101

To enjoy your newly purchased hookah for a many years to come, there are simple instructions to maintain it.

Since you will be breathing in air the circulates through it, one of the most important things to do as soon as your
receive your hookah, is to clean it well and disinfect it.  Gather all the parts that came (except the hose) and soak
in hot water for about 30 minutes. You can also wash with soap and mild non-abrasive non-toxic liquid to insure bacteria free parts.

For the hose, I use a non-toxic odorless disinfectant and spray very lightly.
When it’s sunny outside, I leave it out in the sun for about 30 minutes or so.

Please make it a habit to after every use to wash the shisha clay bowl, shaft and glass bottle to get rid of stale smoke that
(if not removed) will eventually stick to the inner walls causing ugly taste and color.

Assembly is very easy:

1- Place the large black rubber seal/gasket on the mouth or opening of the glass bottle.
The new seal is tight and to insert the shaft (hookah body) into it might be difficult, I recommend you use a non toxic
lubricant for the first few times of use until it loosens up and becomes easy to insert or pull out the shaft from the bottle.
I personally get a Q-Tip, dip it in olive oil and run it around the inner wall of the rubber seal.

2- Fill the glass bottle with water, cold water is recommended to cool down the smoke. How much water?
Well, when you insert the shaft in the next step, you want the inner thin metal stem (the long metal tube) to sink
About 1.5 inches inside the water. So it will be a balancing act. After a while of doing this, then you can eye measure it.

3- Now insert the shaft (hookah body) into the bottle, nice and tight. When lifting the hookah grab it's bottle not the shaft!

4- Place the charcoal tray on top of the hookah. Some trays lock in place when pressed down, some others sit loose on
another pre-attached plate. Each hookah design is different.

5- Place the clear large rubber grommet around the top opening of the hookah, then grab the clay bowl and put adequate
amount of shisha in it then cover it with aluminum foil, make the holes in the foil then affix the bowl on top of the
   hookah nice and tight.

6- Place the small clear rubber grommet around the end of the hose that you don’t smoke from then plug it into the
     hookah. Again, nice and tight.

Now you are ready to light up your charcoal and get started! Please checkout my My eBay Store for links on how to “hookah”
