What is DMAE (INCI: 2-Dimethyl-amino-ethanol)?DMAE was first introduced to me by Dr. Perricone via his book, "The Wrinkle Cure". DMAE is an amazing nutrient that extends the life of cells, inhibits the cross linking of proteins, which gives the skin a tone and firm appearance. It should be noted that DMAE can cause a tingling sensation that is perfectly normal and how it feels when it is working. And boy does it WORK~! It is also a very effective memory booster and stirring just an 1/8th teaspoon into your morning juice each day will have your memory sharper than it has been in years!
Does it work?Yes! Most people see a slight difference within 20 minutes of application, but it doesn't stop there... DMAE also has a cumulative effect which means it continues to make your skin better with the passing weeks, months and years~! I have seen my facial features become more defined over the years, including, but not limited to: definition of my nose, the growth of an upper lip (Bold claim that I can back up with pictures! I use DMAE in my lip plumping balms and they really work - long term~!), lifted jowls and tighter overall skin.
How does it work?DMAE is thought to increase acetylcholine levels in the skin, thereby affecting smooth muscle contraction. It is thought to stimulate the production of your own body's natural collagen. In fact, DMAE may be the first agent proven in a study to fight facial sag. It is theorized to work in the same manner on the brain when taken internally.
How do I use it?DMAE is one ingredient that I put in almost EVERYTHING~! I can't understand why everyone doesn't use it in everything? But you do not even need to have a ready-made product to get started. You can begin if you like, just by mixing 1/3 teaspoon DMAE to 1 oz water, it easily dissolves in water and that ratio will create a 3% mixture. You may go as high as 6% if you can tolerate it. If your skin starts to get red, just dilute it and back off a little on strength. You simply splash the mixture on after cleansing your face and apply your moisturizer to your wet skin, sealing in the hydration. Of course, DMAE can be added to your favorite creams, lotions and gels that do not contain it. NOTE: DMAE does thin lotions, so you may need to add a thickener such as carbomer or lecithin, etc. to keep the structure of your lotions. If that is a concern for you, you may like to start with the thicker of your cremes.
Why do you sell it separately?
When I first met @DrPerricone on Twitter, I was star struck and a little afraid he may be angry with me for tearing apart his recipes. Instead, I found a wonderful, generous man who was thrilled to hear I had put his books to good use and was spreading the word of his work. I assured him comically that I was no competition to him since I catered to the poor and he laughed graciously. I sell DMAE separately because I know there are many people out there who crave the benefits of DMAE products, but who may not have the cash to lay out all at once. Just like me. So instead, I sell 15 gm (about 2 Tablespoons) for around $6 and 50 gm for about $15 to a wonderful section of repeat satisfied customers who use DMAE every day and see fantastic results while living within their means. Just like me.
