What You Need

- The owner's manual. Some vehicle manuals contain a section on how to replace the light covers.
- Screwdriver or socket wrench. Take a look at your vehicle and see what you need; screws obviously require screwdrivers, while socket wrenches are for bolts.
- A small container. To keep the screws or bolts in a safe place, ensuring you won't lose them.
What You Need to Do
- Make sure the engine is off and that the key is not in the ignition.
- Remove the screws or bolts that secure the light cover to your vehicle, making use of the screwdriver or socket wrench as needed.
- Place the removed screws or bolts into the small container for safekeeping.
- If the cover doesn't come off, try twisting it gently. Some light covers are designed to release this way.
- Check if the light under the cover is in good condition. Prepare the replacement cover.

- Re-secure the screws or bolts.
- Turn on the vehicle's engine, press on the brake, and turn on the turn signal. Ask an observer to check if the lights go on as you go through the motions.
