Be very careful and cautious about jewlery from China, the advertize that it's "real gems and real gold", but in actuallity it's gold plated and more often than not coloured glass for gems. I guess the addage 'Caviat emptore' is really prevelent here!
The one thing you can do is ask the seller if it is real solid gold or just gold plated, be sure to save thier response just in case when you get the item that it isn't as stated for evidence. Don't readily accept thier certificates of authenticity either, many of them seem to be a photocopy that has been doctored to suit the item. If in doubt, take the item to a pawn shop, they will tell you if the item is real or nothing but costume jeweley. Also take a careful look inside the band of rings and attachents for the clasps of necklaces and braclets, if it is real gold there should be a stamp. If it says something like 14KTGP, it's gold plated, or if it doesn't have any stamp at all, chances are it's not solid gold.
