I just wanted people that are in the market for these remotes to be aware that a used remote may in fact NOT be covered by Logitech warranty. Let me clarify based on my discussion with Logitech customers service. Essentially, if any Harmony remote has been hooked up to the internet to program and thus register, the warranty is no longer transferable. So those auctions with open box or those that say tested...beware.
So for those of you looking at auctions for these remotes, please ensure that they are NEW in SEALED BOX, never used or hooked up to internet, THAT IS, if you care whether the warranty will be valid or not. Personally, I would want the warranty so I am staying away from used equipment. Be wary of those auctions with open box or those that say item tested....if tested, chances are it was hooked up to program.
Also, make sure that the remote has not been refurbished. If not specified, ASK. Also, don't assume all components are included. For example, the 890 Pro does not include the RF receiver...generally. If not specified ASK. If not sure about anything....ASK. If you do not get a response, or a reply that does not answer ALL your questions.....STAY AWAY. I often get replies that do not answer all my questions, or answer a different question. Either the seller is purposely avoiding my question, or he\she could not be bothered. Either way, this is not a seller I want to be associated with, especially if there are issues with the transaction\product. This true for any auction and is a rule I live by when shopping on ebay.
