You hear about the scam listings, but it is still quite surprising to actually see one. I found a beautiful '05 Softail custom, blue (sound familiar) with a BIN of $6,000. The registered seller had some pretty good feedback, but it was all for childrens books and the like. The listing contained an outside e-mail address with a screwball story about having lost the ebay contact "so I can't respond to ask the buyer a question." Mostly out of curiosity I sent a message to the outside address. The response was a strange story about the sellers brother dying in a car wreck, they wanted to sell his bike fast due to bad memories. It was located somewhere in Europe. The best part of the deal ... if I BIN, they will ship it free! I decided to let eaby know about this and the listing has subsequently been removed. To make things even stranger, in a subsequent search for a nice softail, I found two more listings with exactly the same picture and a very similar layout. The morale of this message is .. if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Keep your eyes open and bid with your brain, not your heart..
