S U Carburettors.

1. Don't forget. If you ever decided to restore your SU Carburettors and after you have replaced all the seals,

2. Making sure that your needle is straight,

3. Making sure that you have the correct play at the ends where the needle is seated. There is a little spring that allowed the needle to go up and down into the piston.

4. Making sure that your piston goes freely into the chamber with that particular THUMB sound.

5. Making sure that your float is correctly operating and that there is no hole in it.

6. Making sure that your needle moves freely and ,

7. Making sure that there is no gum deposit into the needle's seat.

8. There is a lot more to say about it, but I want to get to the point :

9. Just before you will put back together your piston housing, it could be a good idea to shine the exterior of the housing. For once installed at his place on the horn assembly, it will look a lot prettyier once the booth lid is wide open, (HOOD).

10. But REMEMBER,  do not use a wheel and paste to polish the piston's housing.

You may cause; by the heat generated by the mechanical polisher; a warpt into the unto the piston's housing , then, the problem that you are going to face is that the piston wont't move as freely than before, thus your gas comsumtion will increase tremendously.

May be you want to consider to use a Wheel Aluminium Polish. I can recommand a Brand: MOTHERS, is doing a pretty good job, without to much elbow grease.
