I have been active on Ebay for a number of years, both as a buyer and seller. Being a good seller can be trying as most of you who sell items can attest to. I believe in being open and honest about the items I sell which are mainly philatelics. Ebay is a great avenue to sell those items you no longer want or need. The concept is very basic ... list your item in a specific category, describe the item, show the item, provide shipping and handling details, set a starting or fixed price and hope that your item is needed by a fellow ebayer. The auction is on. You check your item from time to time to see if anyone has bid on it or possibly has a question. Now, the kicker is this. How well do you know the buyer?
The name of the buyer is just another username like your's. The person could be a man or a woman, young or old, rich or poor. We really do not know the specific details of the person bidding on what you have to sell. And, really it is not that important. However, what is important is that you have the resources to check that person's feedback. Recently I had a fellow Ebayer leave me negative feedback for the cost of my shipping and handling charges ( which by the way were printed right there in black and white on my listing ). Most normal people would not bid on an item where they thought the S&H charges were excessive or they would contact the seller to find out why the price is so extreme. As a buyer, if I have a question ... I ASK IT!
In conclusion to this ordeal, I have realized through my own fault how important it is to check the feedback of the people you with whom you deal. As a seller, you have the opportunity to see the feedback of others and although everyone deserves a chance to receive positive feedback ... it must be earned. Do not succumb to a negative feedback outcome through a fault of your own. CHECK THAT FEEDBACK. I have learned my lesson.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope it was even a little bit helpful. Wayne (yashill)
