Scrap Catalytic Converter (Aftermarkets) : eBay Guides

I just noticed how many people were beginning to sell scrap catalytic converters (some just mass-selling aftermarkets looking for people to take advantage of). An aftermarket converter can come off of any car or truck that has had a converter replaced.

Just a few things to watch for when buying. They're only worth about 8.00 - 11.00 USD; their Pgm metal percentage is VERY VERY low; also they only weigh .8 - 1.2 lb of material. For seasoned core buyers they are easy to spot but for amateurs, these converters can be sometimes hard to spot. They're normally small (about 7-8 inches long), and also can say Cat Co on the shell (an obvious give-away). They're just a very cheap, thin steel converter. Normally, if a deal is to good to be true or you are just not sure on the converter: STAY AWAY. I suggest, if your wanting to get into the converter business, to get informed. There are many helpful grading CD's sold on eBay that would help immensely. I have grown up in the converter business and have purchased hundreds of thousands of catalytic converters.
