When shipping to Canada, you are asked the value of the item. What is being asked will greatly affect how much the buyer will have to pay to clear the item at customs. If I drive down to the US from Canada and buy something on sale at 50% off regular price, when I drive back, I show my receipts a the border and I am charged duties and taxes on what I paid, NOT regular price.

So value should be price paid at the end of the auction supported by a copy of Paypal invoice/payment.

In Canada under $20CDA, customs doesn't bother holding it up and charging taxes and duties and if it's declared as a GIFT then the value jumps to $60CDA

FEDEX and UPS are the worst shippers for international! For any small amount they start charging $17+ for brokerage fees plus taxes and duties. So on $45US (two cans of paint) shipped with UPS, I ended up being asked for almost $40CDA at the door by UPS delivery guy, less than $10 of that was taxes and duties, the rest UPS brokerage fees!!!

If your Ebay ad states that you will ship USPS and you decide to "DO ME A FAVOR" by shipping it UPS or FEDEX, well your NOT! Their brokerage fees are highway robbery!

So PLEASE keep in mind the higher the value declared, the more your poor buyer will have to cough up to the government upon delivery!
