Step by step setup speed trap and red light camera GPS POI database in your Mio GPS.

  1. Copy over speed trap data file to Mio GPS.

The speed trap POI data are compiled into spud format. All POIs have angle data, and the angle data have been applied workaround. These workaround will guarantee the POI data works with MioMap software bug. The spud file need to copy over to MioMap\poi\speedcam folder in your Mio GPS unit.

For PDA device with MioMap or hacked unit, can use ActiveSync to access MioMap folder from your computer, and copy over the spud file.

For un-hacked unit, MioMap folder is protected. Need install Mio Transfer Hack to access MioMap folder. You can google "Mio Transfer Hack" and download it. Mio Transfer Hack required original Mio Transfer installed. Make sure you have original Mio Transfer installed from retail DVD. Then copy over “Mio Transfer Hack.exe” to C:\Program Files\Mio DigiWalker folder.

Connect Mio GPS unit with computer using USB cable. Double click “Mio Transfer Hack.exe” to run hacked Mio Transfer. In Mio Transfer Hack window, you can access MioMap folder and copy over SpeedcamUpdates.spud into MioMap\poi\speedcam Folder.

Disconnect GPS from computer when it's done.

Turn on GPS. From the main menu, tap “Settings” button on up-right corner to enter settings menu. Then tap “General” button to enter General Settings menu.

In General Settings menu, check “Enable Safety Cameras”, then tap “Options” button on its right side. Set “Audible Warning” to “When Approaching”, and set “Visible Warning” to “Detailed”.
