I bought a Tauchmeister 1937 dive watch (T0065) off of Ebay after seeing my brother in law's watch from the same company. It was my first purchase I ever made online and I was relieved to find that I had indeed received the watch that I had purchased. The watch took about two weeks to get to me in Canada and was packaged well enough to ensure the watch would not get damaged in the post. The first thing I noticed is the heaft of this watch (and the visual size), which is why I bought it. The second thing I noticed was how grainy the movement felt when I set the watch, but as it keeps time well I only have to feel the "graininess" at Daylight Savings.
The watch says WATER RESISTANT 500M but I will never use this watch in the water. Firstly, I'm not a diver or even a swimmer. Secondly, I don't trust it to even wash dishes in. Having said that, I do enjoy wearing this watch because it is unusual and gets attention. Now, I bought this watch 18 months ago and it is still running on the original battery. I'm not hard on my things, but a watch this size does tend to bump into walls, door handles, etc. Apparently the crystal is hardened, and I can say that in the 18 months I've worn it (daily) I have only one scratch after a particularly hard impact with a wall. The strap is quite thick and is not showing any signs of damage. It says in German that the strap is a leather and from the way it has stood up I have to believe it is. My brother works in the oil patch up north and he is very hard on his possessions, but his looks as good as mine does. He bought his almost 3 years ago and it still runs fine.
Bottom line, this is a fashion watch that will be fun to wear and will keep time. I chose the T0065 modle because it was the biggest, but more importantly, it was the simplest. I wouldn't trust the complicated movements, but this simple movement has worked out very well for myself and my in law. The seller was quick to ship and the watch is doing everything I expected from it, and I would buy from that seller again.
