I was looking to price a Nintendo Wii on eBay about 2 weeks ago and I noticed something peculiar about the titles of some of the listings. I couldn't help but notice that some sellers were and still are mentioning things such as "2 controllers and 5 games included" if the listing is only selling a packaged Wii and "4 controllers and 14 games included" if the listing is selling a packaged Wii and a Wii Play game. Although "practically" true, it is not technically true. To find out why please continue to read below:

But first, don't be afraid to hit the "yes" button on the "this guide was helpful" section below.

A brand new packaged Nintendo Wii contains:

  • One Wii Remote
  • 2 Batteries for the Wii Remote
  • One Nunchuck Attachment
  • An AC Adapter
  • An Audio/Video Cable
  • A Sensor Bar
  • A Sensor Bar Stand
  • A Wii Console Stand
  • The Wii Console Itself
  • Also a Copy of Wii Sports
Wii Sports counts as 1 game, yes just 1. Within this game you have 5 main MINI games to choose from: Baseball, Bowling, Boxing, Golf, and Tennis, all of which are on 1 disc. These are MINI games because each sport is only playable for a time shorter than each of the sport's rules. For example, in Baseball You can only play for 3 innings instead of 9. In golf you can only play up to 9 holes at a time, as opposed to 18. Don't get me wrong, this game is incredibly fun. There are also other options and fun things to do.

Wii Play is another game that may be included in some listings. Not only does this package come with Wii Play, which is 1 game as well, it comes with a Wii Remote. Wii play comes with more MINI games than Wii Sports but lacks the variability that Wii Sports has. Wii Play has 9 MINI games to choose from: Shooting Range, Find Mii, Billiards, Charge, Fishing, Tanks, Laser Hockey, Table tennis, and Pose Mii, all of which are on 1 disc.

The Wii Remote is the main "controller" that will be used to navigate menus, play games, etc. In fact the Wii Remote is THE controller. The Nunchuck can't be used by itself; it is an attachment or extension to the Wii Remote.

In conclusion, if you see "2 controllers included" it is probably referring to the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck, which can only be used by 1 player. Also, Wii Sports and Wii Play count as 1 game each. If not, then what's stopping someone from listing Mario Party 8 as over 50 games! Basically, just do your research and understand what you're getting into.

Have a wonderful day and happy bidding.
