You may have heard the word terps, and wondered what might this be and what are the benefits of using this in the making of henna paste

When mixing your henna powder into paste, adding terps, also known as essential oils, will help your henna paste achieve darker staining results. There are certain types of essential oils that are known as terps. The most pouplar terps are:

Tea Tree

Eucalyptus Globulus

Cajeput

Lavender

Ravensara

When choosing an essential oil make sure that it is fresh and 100% pure. It will become diluted in your henna paste. Good quality essential oils will be founds in sealed amber glass bottles.

You can read our guides:

-How to mix Henna Powder into Henna Paste for Body Art (Mehndi)
-How to Mix Henna Powder for Hair

The safest and most mildest terp is lavender, and is the recommended terp to be used for children, elderly, and pregnant women.

You may also add other non-terps to your henna paste for great scent such as geranium bourbon, patchouli, and sweet orange oil. Perhaps you can try out orange blossom water or rose water. Whichever scent you like, add it !

When doing your hair you may choose to add terps or any essential you like, but they are not a must, as hair isn't as fussy to taking henna as the body can be. But they can leave your hair smelling great !!

Please visit us at the Henna Soo online website for our full line of 100% pure essential oils.
