nvidia 7800gt : eBay Guides

the 7800 gt, the 7800gtx and 7900 gtx little brother.  given the prices of the afformentioned cards, the 7800 gt offers similiar performence at less cost.  a definite jump up from a 7600 gt card, this card offers 20 pixel pipelines, 256mb of ram.  this card is easily overclocked and will impress,  given its reliability, this card runs cool and stable.  i play a variety of online games, and i started out with a 6600 gt, which is a good card nonetheless, and the clock settings are higher than the 7800 gt, but the proof is in the punch, even with lower clock settings, the 7800 outperforms the 6600 all day long.  the proof is in the pixel pipelines.  the 7800 has 20 pipelines.  the 7600 has 12 pixel pipes, the 7300 only has 8.  only the 7900 has 24, and the 7950 has 48.  think of pixel processing as the drain on your kitchen sink, one drain only allows it to empty so fast, imagine 20 drains on the same sink, get the picture?  its in the pipes folks, thats how you judge a gpu.  the key to performance is eliminating bottlenecks.  benchmarking is a big help which can indicate weather or not a mod has benifitted your system or not.  i have used many cards and was pulled in by the flashy looks, led lighting and so on.  well the 7800 has no leds,  no flash or big numbers.  what we must realize is that running two of these cards,  we can run any game that is out there.  i advise you snap up the 7800 if possible, it offers cost effectiveness and performance.
